While putting together this site and trying to keep any information on it accurate I came across a few very valuable sites. They are;
-
The US National Park System has a site devoted to the Aleutian World War II National Historic Area. http://www.nps.gov/aleu/index.htm
-
http://www.hlswilliwaw.com/aleutians/attu-homepage.htm is devoted to Attu and the Aleutian Islands during and after the war.
-
A great site for stories from and about the men that flew B-26 Marauders during the war is http://b26.com/index.html. It is is dedicated to Martin B-26 Marauder Men who fought in World War II. Personal accounts, photos of crews and planes, and related information.
-
A great Facebook community for B-26 Marauders is https://www.facebook.com/groups/183407222350/

For looking up USAF aircraft by serial number: http://cgibin.rcn.com/jeremy.k/serialSearch.html This site often tells the final fate of the aircraft. Unfortunately for two of the planes in these photos this site has no entries.

http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_bombers/b26_7.html Joe Baugher's site has all sorts of details about US aircraft. It gave me concise description of the Martin AT-23B/TB-26C Marauder relative to the armed B-26. He also helped me translate the tail number of one plane tail number 335727 to serial number 43-35727 and thus identify it as a Beech C-45F Expeditor. Alas it is not listed in the first site. Nor is the P-38 in the photos. Serial number 41-35436, "Wet Dream", is. She survived the war and was "condemned salvage obsolete Nov 3, 1945".
